This morning a Grey Heron flew east by the village, being hassled by two Jackdaaws as it was close to their nest.
In the top fields east of the village a Yellowhammer and Song Thrush sang despite the gloom. Two Buzzards were flying around the top wood, probably a nest with young now. A flock of noisy juvenile Starlings were feeding on the pasture while the only way Swallows could find food was to fly in-between the cattle as they grazed and disturbed insects from the grass.
Three Stock Dove were feeding near the barns and two Linnets flew up from the ground, hopefully a pair looking for food for young.
When briefly near my feed station, I noticed two Yellowhammer and a Nuthatch taking food, while a Magpie was looking for a morsel, probably young birds.
