16th Oct - cloudy, wind picking up during the day, blusterly southern mild 18C

Ex hurricane Ophelia passed over the west of the UK, Ireland and Scotland bringing very strong winds (100 mph+) and rain.  It started life much further south and picked up Saharan sand and dust from Iberian wild fires which caused the sun and sky to appear quite orange at times, photos taken at 1415h today.

Willey; 12+ Redwings this morning flew out of the church lane hedge off SW.

Shawell lagoons; a look here early afternoon in case the wind had blown something inland and it was taking shelter.  In fact, only the usual mix of Gulls and a few Tufted Duck.  Couple of Cormorant were present, an adult and juvenile.
