16th Feb - -2C frost last night, mostly sunny, high thin cloud, light SW, 7C

Willey; mid-morning I checked the feed station for awhile.  Tree Sparrows numbered 10, the highest count so far this winter,  Chaffinch, Greenfinch, single Goldfinch and Yellowhammers were present.  Blue, Great, single Coal Tit and 4 Long-tailed Tits were visiting. A female Great-spotted Woodpecker   fed on the fat balls for awhile.  Jackdaw, Magpie, Collard Dove, Dunnock, House Sparrows and Blackbirds were others present. A Sparrowhawk caused a slight panic as it zipped through the feed area, but caught nothing.
A Red Kite drifted over slowly westward, a single Buzzard over, then 2 others together circling a little to the east - territorial display should be come frequent now.  Fieldfare and Redwing were on the nearby fields, occasionally flying into the old railway tree line.

Cotesbach Landfill; a look here after lunch, plenty of Gulls, 10,000+, but no white wingers.  These seen to have been on the scarce side this winter, but still time for more. Two Red Kite were in attendance circling around the area.
