4th May - cloudy sunny intervals, very light SW, 16C

Willey; mid- morning a Male Sparrowhawk visited the garden. A Green Woodpecker is calling still frequently.  A Blackcap has taken up a territory behind the church.

Bittesby; I had a walk over the Bittesby farm area this afternoon, this area has been in the higher stewardship scheme for a number of years now and much habitat has been created, so sometimes it can produce interest sightings.  Today, with high cloud and a ‘heavy’ feeling things were a bit quite.  2 pairs of Yellowhammers, a pair each of Linnet and Goldfinch and plenty of Chaffinch in their territories.  Warblers included Blackcap, Chiffchaff and At least 3 singing Whitethroat, including one nest building.  A Grey Wagtail flew along the brook, and a Buzzard was flying around.  Several Skylark were singing over the oilseed rape fields. One Stock Dove was one the track and a couple of Pheasant were heard.
