3rd Aug - cloudy short shower am, brighter later, mod SW, 18C

Willey;  This morning the Yellowhammer was singing still from the hedge to the west and a Buzzard was in the small spinney.  There was c25 Swallows feeding over the Sheep and sitting on the sheep wire fence, many were juveniles, during the morning .  A couple of Swift (1030h) and House Martins came over, at about 1100h a flock of  c25 Swift and c20 House Martin were feeding over the same fields. In the evening 6 Linnets flew south over the village.

Cotesbach - Sandy Lane; I had  a quick look here as passing by.  A Red Kite was on the pools field and \a Buzzard followed by a calling juvenile flew overhead.  On the first pool was a female Tufted Duck and 6 well grown ducklings, on the adjacent pool there was a further 5 ducklings of similar size but no adult, so they may have been from the same clutch as the others.  A Grey Heron was searching the field then flew to a pool before leaving.  Two Stock Dove flew along the adjacent spinney.
