2nd April - sunny, then cloudy with sunny spells, light W/NW, 12C

Willey;  It noticeable that Chiffchaffs arrived inn number as this morning several were heard in a number of suitable locations.  In the Long Spinney (Perkins area) a Nuthatch and Treecreeper were singing.  A Song Thrush was singing mid-village area, a Great Spotted Woodpecker along the old railway-BH wood.

A Starling (mid-village) and another on road verge  near Newnham Fields Farm entrance were both collecting nest material.

A check of the feed station area today produced a Coal Tit, (not seen one for at least two weeks here), a cock Pheasant (heard displaying earlier), Collard Dove, plus all the regular visitors, including 4 Tree Sparrows.  A Goldfinch pair were in the church Horse Chestnut tree, where the species often nests.

Late afternoon, on newly sown arable fields near Penn Lane c 300 Fieldfares were feeding.
