As I was in the area a look here this afternoon. I was surprised by how dry the 'washes' were, even the reserve pools were very low.
There were plenty of Whooper Swans and seen on the farmland in the area too. Several Ruff, Snipe, Dunlin and Black-tailed Godwits. A Red Kite and Marsh Harrier flew over.
Ten Cranes and two Cattle Egrets were on the 'washes', a single Little Egret on Lady Fen. Kestrels seemed quite numerous, no doubt as the 'washes' were so dry providing lots of food opportunities.
