This morning, Perkins filed area, I found the remains of a Kestrel which appeared to have been plucked and eaten, next to a large fallen Oak branch, like a low plucking post!.
About 1630 through the window I noticed a bird land on the railings facing away from me, at first I thought a Robin, and it 'bobbed' like a Robin, but it wasn't right, too long a tail and appeared more slender and more uniform grey-brown than a Robin. It flew down out of view, but I grabbed my bins and camera which were handy and waited, it flew back up on to the church wall, then onto gravestones. It was a female Black Redstart. It disappeared from view, I'll be looking tomorrow!! Obviously my first ever record here.
