The Pied Wagtails are now feeding young under the old tiles on the shed roof at home.
A Lessser Whitethroat was singing from the hedge about a mile west of the village and a Mistle Thrush flew in to the field where it was seen a lot in the Spring.
During the evening I visited Stanford reservoir, it was cloudy and dull, with a wind making it feel much cooler. Probably because of this c1000 hirundines were busy feeding very over the water whee the insects were, nit high up. A Black tern was present sitting on the spit, then feeding in the bay with Common Terns and Black-headed Gulls. 4 Greenshank, 2 Ringed Plover and a Dunlin were the only passage waders spotted.
A Cuckoo was busy around the reservoir and a second was sulking around the reed bed where I watched the male singing from a dead tree over-looking the reed bed, presumably a pair. I managed some record photos of the male.
