9th May - high cloud most of the day, brighter evening. 11C, light NE

An hour look at Stanford reservoir this morning produced 5 Greenshank, 3 Dunlin, a Ringed Plover plus all the  regulars.  Swifts were present, 10+, with a good number of Swallows, House and Sand Martins.

My iPhone digital camera telescope adaptor unit arrived in the post, so I wanted to try it and visited Shawell lagoons expecting plenty of Gulls.  At first there was little to be seen, no Gulls, then a large flock flew over but did not land on their way to the landfill site.  I checked out the second lagoon, again not too much, but 6 Mute Swans were present, this is a large number for this site, further another swan was present.  This one was, in fact, the Whooper Swan that has been seen at Stanford reservoir, no wonder I did not see it at the reservoir this morning.  I never did get the digital adaptor to work, faulty, a replacement is needed.

I told Carl about the Whooper Swan as you would be interested in seeing it at the lagoons, but he was unable to visit until the evening.  Carl did visit in the evening and see the Whooper Swan, but amazingly while he was there a Wood Sandpiper dropped in and he was able to get some photos, unfortunately I was unable to go and see it.  What changes that happening?

A Yellow Wagtail flew over the village calling about 1630h.
