26th July - HOTTEST day, 32C, broken cloud, southerly light, fresher pm

The hot dry summer continues, nothing like it since 1976.
Still 27C at 2100h this evening

Pitsford Reservoir; an evening walk at the reserve to Scaldwell Bay. About 50 Lapwing resting on the causeway side. A couple of Little Egret and the expected duck, including 9 Red-Crested Pochard.  A Red Kite flew over.  Otherwise the usual species were seen, unfortunately no shore available yet as the water level is still quite high, so migrating waders will not have any suitable habitat yet.
