6th May - high cloud thinning, sunny interval later very warm 20C, light SE breeze

This morning the Lesser Whitethroat was singing again to the west of the village.

House Martins have now returned to St. Marys along Montilo Lane and are building nests, in the hedge opposite a Whitethroat sang a few times.

An evening look at Stanford reservoir revealed 2 Common Sandpipers, the drake Goldeneye and Pochard plus a pair of Shoveler.  Several Reed Warblers were singing in the main reed bed, and the cuckoo was present too.  More Garden Warblers were found singing, separating their song from Blackcaps is the main challenge.
