15th Dec - cloudy, mist and dull, light SW, 9C

I visited Stanford reservoir this morning to check out if a reported Smew was still present.  However, not long after arrival the local shoot started and this caused many of the ducks to take flight and move around a lot. Slowly, things started to settle down, but the Smew was not located.  There were 24. Goosander present, which is a good number for here, as in recent years the numbers have been declining.  Four Little Egrets were at the in-flow area.
