Willey; this morning while shepherding the sheep and lambs I noticed a Fox cub a little way out in the grass from the hedge stalking about, no doubt for a Rabbit. However, the ewes are still protective of their (lone big) lambs, and one charges at the Fox cub and so it off.
Stanford reservoir; this evening a walk at the reservoir, hoping the temperature would be a little more comfortable. New birds in included a Greenshank, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper and 3 Black-tailed Godwits. 13 Little-ringed Plovers were on the island area. A moulting Shoveler pair, a drake Pochard, Shelduck were among the Duck seem. A Fox stalked along the shore line in the vegetation but had been spotted by a drake Mallard that was letting every one know with very loud alarm calls. Two Common Terns flew in and settled on the point.
All the usual Warblers were present and the Grasshopper Warbler was still 'reeling'. Treecreeper, Long-tailed 'Tit families, Linnet, Bullfinch, Goldfinch and Chaffinch were seen. A Barn owl was hunting over the meadow area.
