7th July - sunny spells, becoming cloudy, warm 25C, light SW breeze

Bittesby lake; I had a walk around here this afternoon, fairly quite bird-wise.  The Mute Swan pair were present but have not re-nested after loosing their first nest in the Spring.  A Little Grebe pair were feeding 3 youngsters on the lake, hopefully other birds will have their young out soon.   The local Warblers were being hard to spot but were present, the resident male Reed Bunting was singing still, hopefully he has a mate somewhere nearby.  Several Goldfinch were around and more than 1 Yellowhammer was heard in the bordering hedgerow.

A good number of meadow and hedge butterflies were out today, including plenty of Green-veined Whites, Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Large Essex and Small Skippers.  Including a day-flying moth.
