5th April - Sunny, light wind sotherly, 12C

Willey; Red-legged Partridge pair in the garden again mid-morning.

Stanford Reservoir; a fairly quiet feeling here after lunch with little bird song and not much on the water, although Wigeon were up to 57 today.  A Little Egret was on the pasture next to the inlet pool and a Lapwing displayed near-by. Plenty of Common Gulls kept coming and going to the Reservoir.

I had heard a couple of Chiffchaff singing and Reed Bunting and not much else, then a Willow Warbler sang a little near the hide before falling silent again - a first 2018 record.  A Jay was in the trees here too.  A couple more singing Chiffchaffs along the river side, a Male Blackcap and a Treecreeper.

First Peacock butterfly and a single Comma too.
