However, about mid-day news broke of a Curlew Sandpiper had been found, fortunately I was close to go back to look. Fortunately the Curlew Sandpiper was showing well, resting then feeding, not yet in summer plumage, but beginning to show signs. Also, new in were four Ringed plovers. I guess they all came in together, and other wader movements were noted about this time through the Midlands.
Shawell sandpit/Landfill; 1015h. A Common Sandpiper, a White Wagtail still. Six Gadwall, Shelduck 1, Swallows c30, House Martins c15.
Stanford reservoir, afternoon. c300 Swallows, c150House Martins, a few Sand Martins and a single Swift - good to see good numbers at last here.
Four Common Sandpipers and eight Common Terns on the dam. Also, c14 Yellow Wagtails and a White Wagtail. A flock, c25, Tern Species flew over high. NW, probably Arctics.
