6th June -Breezy SW, light showers and sunny spells, 12C

Newton lane; I was pleased to find a pair of Spotted Flycatchers along here this morning, in an area they have nested previously.

Shawell Lagoons; a few Gulls were on the shore, one with a colour ring, which Carl tells me would have been ringed in Gloucester or elsewhere in the SW.

A Grey Heron was standing on the shore too.

Cotesbach Landfill; around the sandpit area this morning the pairs of Egyptian Geese and Oystercatchers.  Tufted Duck were up to 16, two Little Grebes spotted.  A couple of Red Kite were present too.  16 Tufted Duck in today.

Plenty of House martins again feeding here taking advantage of the shelter from the wind and insects around, with Swallows and Sand Martins.

Good news for the Shelduck family, eight duckling today, I could only see seven yesterday.

Stanford reservoir; a look here after lunch in case something had dropped in during the showers, it hadn't.   However there was a good number of Swifts (c100) and House Mafrtins (c200),plus Sand martins and Swallows.  A single Yellow Wagtail was in the dam arera.  Three Shoveler were present (two females and a male).  A single Little Egret flew east over the dam.

Stanford Hall; I checked the Heronryhere, which difficult to see.  However, I could see a young Grey Heron, quite large now, but still in the nest.  Also, a Little Egret preening with a juvenile very close by, which duly went to sleep. As they are present here all year  now it is likely the nest is in the Heronry somewhere.
