10th June - cloudy, showers, light SSE, 14C

A last minute decision to go to North Norfolk this morning for sea air and different scenery, including some birding, some highlights follow.

A look at Wells harbour Gull colony was interesting to see young Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls.  This site used to contain nesting Mediterranean Gulls too, but these seem to have moved off.
The Pools just north of Wells were interesting for many fledglings now about for the waders and ducks, including Egyptian Geese.

Whilst at Blakeney I heard news that a Blyth's Reed Warbler had been found at Wiveton near the old stone bridge, only about a 2 miles away, so I decided to have a look.  As soon as I arrived it was singing from the brambles bordering the road side ditch, only showing briefly. After a while it flew over the lane to the reed area but still sang at times.  So, unexpectedly a 'lifer' for me.

Kelling Water meadow area held a Stonechat and good numbers of Sand Martins, Swallow and House Martins plus other expected birds, and two Brown Hare.

The beach road at Cley was open today so a look over the see and in the Eye field is always good to do.  Off shore Little and Sandwich Terns were fishing.  Two flocks of Common Scoter and a single Gannet flew east. The Eye field looked very brown and dry, a Grey Partridge was feeding among the thistles.
