6th June - sunny spells, light-mod SW, 17C

Mancetter-Hartshill; a report of a 'large' bird during the last 3 days, circling in thermals, came in today - unidentified by the non-birding observers, but said to be bigger than a Buzzard (Stork?).  So, I went to investigate early evening.  Not surprisingly, I did not find anything, the area is nearly all arable, the river Anker runs here but this does not provide much suitable pasture habitat either. I did see a Kingfisher though.  The area is close to Leicestershire, so maybe the bird could be lingering over the border.

Cotesbach landfill; 2 Shelduck, 3 Lapwings, Sand and House Martins,
