4th June - mostly sunny am, clouding over pm, 18C, light SW wind

Stanford reservoir;  I made a visit here during the afternoon, generally quite.  A Muntjac deer doe was walking along the scrub edge in the bay, and behind it a half grown young one.  Another adult was seen later in a different area.   A Red Admiral butterfly was on the brambles.

The Lapwing still has four chicks, now quite big and the Little-ringed Plover has two still.  A Sparrowhawks flew along the shore, fortunately the LRP young quickly hid.  A couple of Shoveler were on the water, A single Little Egret flew along the reservoir, while at least 4 Grey Herons were around the edge.  Good numbers of al the hirundines and Swifts were feeding of the reservoir today, at least 100 Swifts which are always great to watch.

The usual warblers were still singing, but I never heard the Cuckoo today.
