7th Nov - showers last night, today clody, showers late afternoon, 9C, light WSW

Willey; a check of my paddock feed station prior to lunch. It was pretty busy, c30 House and 1 Tree Sparrow, Blue and Great Tits, a single Coal Tit and Nuthatch. A male, then Female Great-spotted Woodpecker visited the peanuts. Several Chaffinch and 6 Greenfinch, the first Yellowhammer of the 'winter' period.  Collared Dove, Jackdaws, Magpie and Pheasant too.

A Mistle Thrush sat atop the Holly tree (loaded with berries) and another in the Church Yew Tree (also berry loaded), a flock c50 Fieldfare flew over and Redwings were dashing around, a group landed in the Holly tree, the Mistle Thrush ignored them this time (often they are quite protective of their tree).

Cotesbach Landfill;  Plenty of Gulls today, we now begin tom anticipate the arrival of 'white-wingers', although historically usually not until December, but you never know and we have some northerly bias weather forecast.

Duck included Shoveler, Tufted, Mallard and Teal, 2 Little Grebe too.  10 Red Kite were present over the landfill area, at least 300 Starling were on the tip.

The Common Sandpiper was spotted feeding on the banks and at waters edge, a quick distant record photo was possible, can you see it?
