Shawell Lagoons; first thing visit, juv Ruff still, 6 Snipe in then vegetation, 1 Cormorant, 71 Lapwings and a Grey Heron, 2 Teal were the main highlights. A Nuthatch was in the Tit flock in the road side hedgerow.
Cotesbach Landfill; a look here next; 63 Teal, 13 Shoveler, 5 Wigeon were the main counts of duck. 9 Little Grebes were together today. 7 Red Kites were over the landfill area.
Rutland Water; another trip here to see the Lesser Scaup that was present on lagoon 3. It was easily viewable form the Shoveler hide, although it was not doing much - just floating and resting, mostly with its head tucked back. The light was awful for photos too, so just some record photos.
A Green Sandpiper and a couple of Snipe were also on lagoon 3, with a Marsh Harrier frequently quartering the reeds.
On lagoon 4 15 Golden Plover were among the lapwings, otherwise pretty quiet there.
Lagoon 1 held 10 Great Egrets, Little Egrets were dotted about too. A male and female Stonechat often popped up on to the reed tops.
Several mixed flocks of Tit were found and examined closely for a Yellow-browed Warbler - but not found, only a single Chiffchaff. Over 50 species were seen here today. Still Dragonflies flying out.
