1st Oct - fine morning, rain from mid-day, mod ENE, 16C

Willey; around the back fields 12 Swallows, with another 25 over the fields and on wires to the west. It was noticeable that many Meadow Pipits were on fields this morning with 10+ flying and landing on a field behind the old railway and 50+ on Sheep pasture to the west where the Swallows were.

A Mistle Thrush was in the Church Yew and 7 more flying from the back fields area.
Mid-morning a Nuthatch was calling from the Church Lane, often heard now.  Also, several Chiffchaff singing around the village.

Stanford reservoir; a look around the dam area mid-afternoon, the weather was not very helpful so little seen, a Sparrowhawk was circling, a male Blackcap and a few Tits were in the bushes. A Red-legged partridge was looking pretty damp, while overhead (high) 7 House martins were feeding.

Shawell Lagoons; a look here in the rain, juv Ruff, 2 Snipe and Lapwings still. Plenty of Gulls on the mud, but not one with a colour ring today.
