11th Aug - Scorching, 32C, very light Easterly.

The colour ringed LBBG seen yesterday was initially ringed in Europoort, Zuid-Holland on 5th May 2012.   Most times it has been seen in the Rotterdam area most years since, usually in March and April. It has been recorded twice previously in Leicestershire, once Oct 2012 near a known landfill area in north of the county and later, Aug 2014, at Rutland water.  It would appear to be a bird of limited adventure so far known.

Willey; at 1045h there were 56 Swallows on the telegraph wires near home. But at 1330h the number had increased to c100.

Croft hill; a look late afternoon for migrants, there was a small number of Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs about with Long-tailed Tits.  A Sparrowhawk and Kestrel flew over too.

Cotesbach Landfill; nice wader activity this evening.  Four Green and two Common Sandpipers, plus a Greenshank (had been seen to fly through Stanford Reservoir a little earlier).

Eleven Little Grebes visible, the Juv Shelduck and two female Teal.
