Willey; a Lesser Whitethroat was singing to the east and another to the west ((Perkins area) of the village. A pair of Goldcrests were in the Long Spinney to the west, the Male was singing.
Rutland Water; made a visit here later on, to the Egleton reserve area. plenty of Warbler activity, Martins and Swifts. Numerous Common Tern, and at least 5 Arctic Terns on Lagoon 3. Waders included a Black-tailed Godwit, an Avocet, Little ringed Plovers, Redshank, Oystercatchers and Lapwing. A single Egyptian Goose seen, several Little Egret.
A Nightingale was singing intermittently and a Lesser Whitethroat was nearby. A Hobby was hawking near the Shoveler hide. Only a single Little Grebe was seen today. A few Pochard and Wigeon were still around. Also, only a single Yellow Wagtail was seen from the Plover hide.
An Osprey pair was at their nest incubating and changed over whilst I was watching.
In all 66 species was seen, not bad given the weather was not too warm and migration has been very slow.
